Health and Happiness- You and your dogs
Do you know that your health and happiness effects your pets? If you’re depressed and not feeling great it can effect the wellbeing of your pets. Animals, especially dogs are very empathetic. Why not create a wellness plan together?
How do you accomplish this?
Exercise and Enrichment
This is something everyone can do. A nice stroll outside can do wonders for you and your dogs. While they sniff (important sensory enrichment) you take in the fresh air and breathe deeply. You can work up to increasing your pace. If you already run take a run with your dog. 30 minutes is all you need. More if time allows.
When you’re done you both sit down to a nice drink of fresh water. Relax.
This is also a great time to rub and inspect your dog for fleas and ticks. Grab a bottle of Wondercide, spray deeply into coat and use your hands to massage into their coat- ears, neck, belly, back and legs. Be sure to wash your hands! It’s totally safe for your skin and all natural. In fact we use it at the farm to spray on ourselves or when we go hiking. They have several smells and it smells wonderful. It doesn’t leave a sticky texture to your dogs coat.
Not using harmful chemicals to control fleas and ticks prevents organ and nerve damage.
Let’s Have Lunch Together
Or dinner. The schedule you make for you and your dog is up to you. I’m a big fan of meal planning cooking a few days a week to save time and money.
Let’s say you cook a whole chicken. Some for you and some for your dog. Chop it up small. If you’d like you can roast two chickens and save it for another day.
Maybe a steak, fresh fish, hamburgers or really any grilled, baked or roasted meat.
Don’t forget the veggies or salad!
Their salad would have finely chopped romaine or spring greens. I’ll add some finely cut cucumbers, parsley and or cilantro. I have a premade mix in a shaker bottle of apple cider vinegar (raw organic) with some ultra oil (sardines, anchovies and hemp) I keep it in the fridge. Before using I’ll shake it well. They love it!
I can mix my meats with salad and I might put in a handful of Acana kibble or Acana canned wet meats with bone broth.
I don’t give dogs onions.
Your salad can be anything you want but I wouldn’t try the ultra oil mix! Dogs love it but it’s pretty fishy.
Fresh Steamed Vegetables
Broccoli, bok choy, spinach, carrots, Brussel sprouts, peas, green beans, zucchini, cauliflower. Make a little extra and mash or cut small. Mix it in with meats and or Acana kibble. Add any supplements or digestive greens for probiotics and prebiotics.
How About Dessert
Or a snack. A little full fat plain organic yogurt. Aldi has a great selection of your local Whole Foods store. Add one or several of these fruits - blueberries, strawberries, banana, raspberries, a small amount of pineapple , apple or pear. Mix it up. You can also put this on kibble a few days a week.
Music!
Relaxing music is great for you and your dog. Turn it up, light some candles and massage or brush your dog. At the farm we do warm lavender towels using essential oil. Fill a gallon of hot water, add 8 drops of lavender essential oil, mix well then add your small towel. Squeeze the water out and begin rubbing and massaging the whole body. Don’t forget inside ears and paws. Both of you will benefit from the aromatherapy. Dogs love it!
Jump Start You & Your Dogs Health and Immunity
One of my greatest finds in 2020 was Petandim (for pets) and Protandim (for humans) I can’t even tell you how much it’s changed my life and my dogs. Oxidative stress ages us and our pets. Petandim and Protandim helps combat oxidative stress allowing us to activate our cells and build better immunity. I give Petandim to my dogs and I take :
Protandim , Daily Wellness and drink Axio for energy. I’m going to be 64 in May and I look 10 years younger. I feel incredible and I’m able to operate several businesses and our nonprofit Haven Mia Bella.
